Michael Michaeloudis is a Partner in the Employment Department with over 19 years’ experience advising clients on complex employment disputes.
He advises on the full range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters, including unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing, TUPE and collective consultation claims. Michael regularly conducts complex litigation in the Employment Tribunal and has significant appellate experience, appearing in the Employment Appeal Tribunal and Court of Appeal. He is particularly experienced in multi-party litigation, complex TUPE disputes and protective award claims, and regularly undertakes Tribunal advocacy, including Preliminary Hearings and Judicial Mediation.
Michael has acted in a number of significant reported cases, including Lofty v Sadek Hamis t/a First Café [2018] UKEAT/0177/17/JOJ, a landmark Employment Appeal Tribunal decision confirming that pre-cancerous cells fall within the definition of “cancer” under Schedule 1 of the Equality Act 2010. The judgment received national media attention and has since been followed in subsequent appellate authorities.

- Ball v First Essex Buses Limited [2018] successful representation in unfair and wrongful dismissal claims following a failed random drugs test, widely reported in national media.
- Thomas and Others v Glenside Manor Services Limited and Others [2018] successfully established that a share sale amounted to a TUPE transfer.
- Smith and Others v Keeping Kids (In Compulsory Liquidation) [2018] successful Protective Award claim awarding 90 days’ pay and providing guidance on the meaning of consultation “in good time”.
- Mustafa and Steen v Trek Highway Services Limited and Others [2017] successful appeal concerning TUPE Regulation 3 and temporary cessation of activities.
- Osborne and 29 Others v Capita Business Services Limited and Others [2016] represented 30 claimants in a 10-day TUPE automatic unfair dismissal case, achieving successful outcomes in both the Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal.
- Morris and Others v E Ivor Hughes Education [2014] successful EAT appeal addressing key principles relating to protective awards, including timing of consultation obligations.

He advises clients across both the public and private sectors, including senior professionals, public sector bodies, financial institutions, educational organisations and commercial businesses. He is known for his strategic and pragmatic approach to litigation and his ability to manage sensitive and reputationally significant disputes.
Michael is recognised in both Chambers and Partners and Legal 500, where he has been ranked as a Next Generation Partner in 2023, 2024 and 2025, having previously been recognised as a Rising Star in 2022 and a Next Generation Lawyer in 2017.
