Gary Scott featured in Property Week

Partner Gary Scott has been featured in leading property publication, Property Week, discussing the proposed abolition of Section 21, which the government has decided will be delayed until a review of the court system has taken place.

Gary says:

“This is an essential practical step that would otherwise mean the court system as it stands would be completely overwhelmed with the vast number of new claims that it would be required to handle. The result would be a complete breakdown of the system. It is already taking up to a year to process a straightforward possession claim.”

He adds: “I don’t think there is an alternative”, and while acknowledging that he “can’t imagine the machinations of government are going to be swift”, he believes the Renters Reform Bill (RRB) is, in the main, “a decent bit of legislation”.

As well as including the key amendments in the RRB, the article also quotes the National Residential Landlords Association and Get Living, a build-to-rent property developer.
