Partner Gary Scott quoted in Commercial Trust
Partner Gary Scott has been quoted in an article in Commercial Trust, a specialist UK mortgage broker, on Section 21.
Focusing on the tax relief review for landlords, the article explains that the Government’s position is against reinstating mortgage interest tax relief (MIR) but is open to ‘other proposals’ regarding tax incentives.
It goes on to look at Section 21, with the Housing Minister stating the importance of making sure the courts process is sufficiently bolstered before Section 21 evictions are put aside.
Gary agrees, saying: “The Court system is already buckling under the weight of possession claims and would be unable to withstand the pressure of further contested claims, which would require substantial additional court time under the present system. It is therefore a practical and sensible step to link the implementation of the abolition of Section 21 to changes in Court efficiency and process.”
